i just read about the smacks, i think ill try that one since my design flopped.

here is the question, if a genny helps your mileage at 1.7 lpm, why not add a few more gennys and save even more gasoline?

does it just not work that way?

As I understand it, in lower concentrations, HHO works like a catalyst (or combustion stimulant) to help hydrocarbons burn thoroughly and quickly.

I would imagine that at much higher volumes HHO could replace some or all of the hydrocarbons usually burned. The challenge here would be metering the HHO and varying the output of the generator to match the demands of the engine at idle, acceleration and cruising. A lot of HHO would be needed to run an engine without any hydrocarbons. Quite a bit of engineering would be necessary to get this accomplished.

For some background information you might want to see post 12 and 13 here: http://hhoforums.com/showthread.php?t=97&page=2

If you placed too much HHo into your engine it would cause detonation of the motor.
Detonation is the spontaneous combustion of the end-gas (remaining fuel/air mixture) in the chamber. It always occurs after normal combustion is initiated by the spark plug. The initial combustion at the spark plug is followed by a normal combustion burn. For some reason, likely heat and pressure, the end gas in the chamber spontaneously combusts. The key point here is that detonation occurs after you have initiated the normal combustion with the spark plug.

Pre-ignition is defined as the ignition of the mixture prior to the spark plug firing. Anytime something causes the mixture in the chamber to ignite prior to the spark plug event it is classified as pre-ignition. The two are completely different and abnormal phenomenon.

"If you placed too much HHo into your engine it would cause detonation of the motor."

Can you substantiate that statement?

I personally have not experianced this problem, but I have read several peoples net post that say they have. It is talked about in this article http://s1.zetaboards.com/LooseChangeForums/topic/283303/1/ and also some in this forum http://www.gassavers.org/showthread.php?t=6927
