There are others out there for coils of 6"X50" or other sizes or even 6"X9" sheets. Lots of size choices.

Just google 'ss shimstock'.

I have been getting my SS at a recycler of SS, located in my town. All stuff has been free so far. I recently got some very very high grade SS plates. The guy said they were buying this grade at 10$ a pound. If they are buying it at that price, I wonder what it is selling for. It must be a lot. He was a little reluctant to part with them for free, but eventually did. I am going to try them. I think he said they were 75% nickel. I think I am going to try plumbabob's configuration, he was very happy with it.
I would check the yellow pages in your town for a SS recycler. You might be spending money you could be saving.
The name of the business was Cronomet. I lucked out finding it.

I found a lot of material on eBay. Do a search on "stainless steel sheet". There's a lot of 304 on there at very good prices.
