Hi guys,
I just ordered potassium hydroxide from Summerbeemeadow.

My question is: Aside from washing out my container and rinsing off my core, is there anything else I should be aware of when changing my electrolyte?

I'm presently using baking soda with a spiral 8" core in a 4" pvc container 12" tall.

Thanks.

A good clean up is a good idea. Be careful with the concentration of KOH; I would recommend working up gradually. I nuked my first generator (thermal runaway) in 15 miles when I first got started. The motor chugged a bunch of water, it wasn't pretty at all. :(

To get a really good and clean setup, I clean all parts with distilled water and distilled vinegar...Try not to use tap water as it has minerals and other stuff in there that will stick around after the water dries off...The vinegar is really good at getting the grime off, even if everything looks clean, you need to be chemically sure before trusting your future results.
