I am in the suburbs outside of Chicago. Does anyone know of a good laser or water-jet place? Mine went out of business, apparently his prices where TOO good.:(

The guy that owns Great Lakes Water Jet has been on a couple custom knife forums I visit for years. He would be my first choice if I needed water jet cutting.

Is that just cutting out the plates or is that for all the holes too?

FOR THAT PRICE I'll drill the holes myself. If you communicate with Mr. Miller often, tell him I will be giving him a call and send him a drawing of my plates. I have 6 bike system I have to build.

I sent him an auto cad drawing that I made from Bio Diesel design. It is a Unipolar design. I sent the drawing to five different shops and he blew everybody elses price away. I am supposed to receive the plates early this upcoming week but I am also supposed to be in Texas this week so not sure if I will be able to get them. Anyway I will post pictures of his work when I get them. The lead time has been just over two weeks though.

That is still really good, let us know when you get them. Did he water-jet, laser, or stamp them to cut the custom sizes?

Plates are finished. All the hardware is on its way. Hopefully I will make some strides toward completion this weekend.

Those plates look really good, but they look thick. What is the gauge of the steel on the plates?

Did the same guy do the end plates as well? And if so how much did he charge?

Did you cut out the gaskets yourself?

Plates are 16 Ga. I cut the end plates myself. And yes I also cut the gaskets myself. I could use some practice at the gasket cutting. I seem to know my way around a milling machine better then the end of a utility knife.
The plates were laser cut. HTe quality seems exceptional to me.
THe bulkheads I cut out of 3/4" UHMW that I have around the shop.
The gaskets are .060" rubber roofing. THey were scraps that my brother had from a job.

You did an excellent job on those end plates.
