im looking for a cheap reservoir or container that i can make into an effective reservoir. $30 is just to much for a plastic tank. i thought PVC but im not sure how the shape will affect the gravity feed or how well it will hold up against KOH

30 bucks is too much for a perfectly shaped tank with holes predrilled tranlucent so you can see the level and mounting holes already installed? :)

I bought all the plastics from US Plastic.

You might like this HDPE reservoir:

ya i dont need all that. i can drill and thread my own holes and mount with my own brackets. and shape doesnt really matter to me. all i need is the translucent tank with an air tight cap.

Make sure you make your own gasket for the cap. Those tend to leak after a while.

how would i go about doing that? could i just cut a circle out of a neoprene gasket?

Take the old one out and then trace it on to the new piece of EPDM rubber. Make it about 2-3mm larger in diameter. That will allow the gasket to wrap around the lip of the reservoir neck and make a much better higher pressure seal.
