I have 100+ plates out of a hydrogen fuel cell (hydrogen in electric and water out) these plates are .050 in thick 18 guage (quite robust) ..but what makes these nice is then have groves in them increasing surface area. these groves. ...Iceguy42000@yahoo.com.

Back side...http://i1149.photobucket.com/albums/o597/iceguy4/donandbob016.jpg I think this picture shows the easily removable fine ss screen At the bottom of this pic it clearly shows the "feeler guage" like flap of SS that holds the screen in place. the screen was used to keep the PEM(proton exchange membrane) from closing off the channels...I have listed these on e-bay...Item number: 251064966493

outside edges 8 1/8"X6 1/2" If you look closely at the first picture you will notice the groves are NOT machined. they were either blasted with sand or etched as the groves are very rough increasing the surface area even more....:D

I thinks the best way to sell your special 316 stainless by scraping or from*well-known*garages in the city then, you will get the better price,.

question about your grooved channels

why make them as channels when their is a gap between plates ?

wouldn't an X style have been just as good ?

*edit*

never mind just saw your back side ( its along the way I was thinking of doing mine )

Not sure what your saying..Dorian. scrap value on these are around $.30 each.
These plates were purpose made for a prototype "fuel cell" like in a space ship:eek:.. these plates combined with a Proton Exchange Membrane.(PEM) do the exact opposite of your cells...it combines hydrogen atoms and oxygen atoms...strips some electrons along the way(electricity) and yields H2O. I don’t feel it would be a major jump to assume these plates would be good for taking H2O apart....just saying
