There seems to be alot of information to go through on here. I'm looking forward to trying things out and seeing what (if any) gains I can see.

First, let me give you a rundown of what I have to work with.

2001 Ford F-250 crew cab 4 wheel drive
6.8 L triton V-10 engine
K&N air intake
throttle body riser
aftermarket mass airflow sensor
superchip micro max power programmer
flowmaster muffler.

Around town 11 to 13 mpg at best
towing to the dunes with 10,000 lb trailer- 6 to 8 mpg (75 mph)

I really want to see what can be done with the mpg towing my trailer.

What this means to me is a cheaper vacation. When fuel was $3.35 per gallon, I would spend just under $300 in fuel to go to the dunes and back. This next year, with the addition of my quad that runs on avegas, I'm looking at a lot more money in fuel.

With all that said, I can't wait to get to work.

Welcome Spob....your engine frightens me already:eek: You are going to need some serious equipment to satisfy that beast! Hope you are ready for some hard work? You will of course need to refine your driving skills a bit, maybe take off your right boot :o it all helps with fuel consumption. I would be seriously daunted trying to make a 7ltr V10 engine more economical, being as they are designed to be non-economical, but hey...give it a shot :D Best of luck!
