In reference to check valve question, A charcoal canister check valve
from a 85 or so ford product has the charictorists you are looking for.
Not sure if it will handle the pressure...

Do you have any assemblies that will fit into 3" abs pipe?

I have one on my car. Yes it does give you a indication of what's going on.
When there in open loop the reading is steady, more so when cold.
When warmed up it goes into closed loop and it pulses...
It would be nice if you have a a/f gage to monitor your work.
You could give it a controlled vacuum leak to lower your a/f ratio.
