    Raed pwm amps Acuretly

When using PWM:How do you monitor the current draw if standard automotive gauge wil not be capable to echo Correctly pulsed amps?

You need a setup like this if you are going to monitor amperage.

The meter as shown in the link above will measure average current just like an automotive guage.

an amp meter connected to the positive wire should work

If you want to measure peak current, You'll need an oscilloscope connected to a meter shunt installed in the high current path. Find the peak voltage on the o-scope and devide it by the resistance value of the meter shunt. That will give you peak current.

You can also short around the pwm momentairly, and measure with a standard ammeter. This reading will be slightly high because it doesn't take into account the resistance of the pwm, but it should be close.
