Ok I was wondering how you have 6 cells with 7 plates?

Ok, now I'm impressed by Stu. He built something that works really nice and has some results. I can't wait to see what happens next. I'm concerned about heat on these dry cells but maybe someone building dry cells can give us some heat numbers.

A cell is defined as any space between plates that has a difference of potential. So a +- is one cell, a +N- is 2 cells, or in this case +NNNNN- is 6 cells.

Note that the Smack's design uses two neutral plates that are tied together electrically. This would look like +HHH-, where each H is a pair of neutral plates and only 4 cells with 8 plates. Same thing with plumabob's design, only his is more of a U shaped Neutral +UUUU-. 5 cells with 10 plates.

Very nice! Great job BoytonStu! Can't wait to see what a PWM and stronger electrolyte will do!

If you get your amp draw up to 20 amps I can see a 1 liter/minute system. I hope it doesn't overheat.

doesn't the dry cell run cooler due to lack of shorting across plate edges?

I interested in the small form factor. Holy crap look at it!
Anybody do the math for the heat? Im interested in how long it can run.

    Thanks,

The Amoeba Cell ran yesterday for 6 straight hours at about 85* Ambient.

The cell temperature rose to 140*F on about 1/2 full reservoir.

Yes I believe it with that reservoir. Larger water flow to help cool the sucker down. It all makes sense. Excellent build my friend!
