    graphite

    i was running a buddies graphite cell the otherday and the cell turned my water completly black and i decided to put my ss cell in the water and i was pulling 30amps using tapwater and gaphite mix vs. about 7 with just plain tap water. there is patricles in the bottom but alot of the graphite is mixed in with the water and has not seperated after about 24 hours now.

    What type of graphite did he use? EDM 100 should not come appart

    It is the graphite flaking apart. I saw a gen. that was using graphite rods and after about an hour the rods had grooves cut in them. The water turned black.

    it was graphite. but it is working great as an electrolyte and i have found none in my bubbler water. i think i will only just have to keep adding water. he was using edm 100 graphite but he thinks he got ripped off. it might be worth getting that graphite powder and trying that.

    I'm not a chemist, but wouldn't that produce CO2?

    oky silly dilly oky oh im an idiot. well the water had baking soda in it fo everything i said is false. sorry guys maybe i should open up my eyes next time.

    Black Water

    I am not sure what baking soda will do to graphite but KOH will make it erode. The black water (with graphite in it) is very conductive.
