how long before we should change the water?

If using KOH as electrolyte, people said we just need to add water. But how long before we should throw it away and creating the mixture from start?

Another question, will KOH mixture lose its concentration over time? causing you to create the mixture again?. If yes, how long? Thx.

You are correct in that KOH will not get used up, but you will lose some along with water vapour.

I tend to change my electrolyte every month or so, although I'm not sure that its necessary.

Basically, if your generator is producing well and there are no contaminants in your electrolyte then you are fine to leave it.

One trick that works well is to drain it into a container and filter it through a coffee filter. This will take a while and you will need to replace the filter several times.
