    Good price on 316?

    $14.58 for a 12" x 12" piece of 316 grade annealed stainless steel sheet, 0.036" thick...

Is this a good price? ... or should I look elsewhere?

    I agree.
Even being in a machine shop we paid around 300 for 40 6x6 316L S.S.
You wouldn't believe how much metal has gone up. I'd buy as much of that as you can, while you can.

I made the Junk Metal places and Thrift stores and ended up in Home Recycle center and found some commercial wall mount towel and trash dispensers made out of 304. They were 4 ft tall, 10 in deep and 2 feet wide. I got them for $15 each. It pays to recycle.

Thats about what I got my 6x6 plates for. I plan to order from scm next time though. His prices are said to be very fair and he's getting good reviews from the group.

I just finished sanding and cross sanding the plates I got from SCM. I do not know this guy from Adam but the quality is absolutely outstanding and the communication was even better. After I ordered the plates I cut gaskets for them while I was waiting for the plates. They fit perfectly so he followed instructions exactly. The price was good enough that I suspected 430 Stainless. I tried my best to get a magnet to stick to them but the plates were not magnetic. I totally beleive that they are as advertised.
