This is a lie! Type 316L has less Carbon content than 430 and also contains Molybdenum (not in 430). This composition makes it more resistant to pitting and general corrosion, and 316L is the industry choice for use with alkaline solutions like the electrolytes we use. If anyone wants to do the research themselves, just google on stainless steel composition and stainless steel corrosion resistance and read the documents published by steel companies.

This link gives the chemical properties of 430 ss http://www.azom.com/Details.asp?ArticleID=996
    Stainless Steel - Grade 430
    Chemical Formula

    Iron, <0.12% Carbon, 16-18% Cromium, <0.75% Nickle, <1.0% Manganese, <1.0% Silicon, <0.040% Phosphorus, <0.030% Sulfer

And this one gives the same for 316L http://www.azom.com/Details.asp?ArticleID=2382

Stainless Steel - Grade 316L – Properties, Fabrication and Applications
    Chemical Formula

    Iron, <0.03% Carbon, 16-18.5% Cromium, 10-14% Nickle, 2-3% Molybdenum, <2% Manganese, <1% Silicon, <0.045% Phosphorus, <0.03% Sulfer

me personally i will stick with 316l for its higher nickle, lower carbon content but to each its own here is the information do with it what you will
