My tests and pics and etc

Ok have been using my bath type cell for 4 months now with a 4 plate design = -nn+.

and have pics of the PVC container and plates after that time.

And the biggest problem(why I removed it) was that one of the SS straps i use from bolts to plates corroded or burnt off due to bad contact, caused by a loose bolt, as seen in one pic - looks like it heated and melted.
but the electrical tape stayed on the straps - not the plates.

will be going to dry cell like painless.

As always - would like feedback, thanx D

Picture # 2 looks like your bolt got a little hot. This is usually caused by to much voltage per plate gap. I had that happen on one of my first designs. The +||- setup is ok for a 6 volt vehicle, not a 12v system. I would suggest on your next version, go with +|||||- and increase your electrolyte slightly for better production and less heat.

Ok went to -nnnnn+ all used plates

    and results after 75 minutes.

    Voltage 10.7
    Amperes 14
    Seconds 60
    Milliliters 850
    Total # of Plates 7
    # of Cell Stacks 1
    Barometric Pressure 1017
    Gas Temperature: 88Fahrenheit

    Your MMW= 5.67
    Theoretical Volume produced
by 100% Faraday Efficiency Milliliters 974
    Your percentage of
    Faraday Efficiency 87.3%

    better than i thought.

Those are some good results with only 10.7 volts and 6 plate gaps. Great Job! You and others have made this work while every time I go below 2 volts per plate gap I am left with a headache. Maybe as Russ suggests it is die ti plate size. What are your plates spaced at?

i use 1.8mm nylon washers or 0.071 in.

and ive not been able to do this with new plates - even new preped plates - 304 SS switch plates.

Maybe that is my problem. IMPATIENCE. What has happened to your mileage since removing the cell?

ya before i tried a smack, and could get near no production, that why i went to the 4 and 5 plate designs.

added pic of what the plates looked like after i took the cell apart.
Notice that the electrical tape held up better than the shrink wrap.

and I also found that the dark plates will produce more than new preped plates.

now to burn "in" the new plates.

Might be diff for ither types or plates(316L), i dont know -only have one plate of 316L - 3X3".

    OK new dry cell tests

not sure if im doing this right but : 7 switch plates , and here is the results

    Voltage 13
    Amperes 4
    Seconds 110
    Milliliters 5000
    Total # of Plates 7
    # of Cell Stacks 1
    Barometric Pressure 998

    Gas Temperature: Fahrenheit: 97

    Your MMW= 5.244
    100% Faraday Efficiency Milliliters 528.4708
Your percentage of Faraday Efficiency % 94.61

ok I know its low amps, but need to mix a better sulution of electrolye.

and this is my first test of it after running 40 min, wanting to see if my gaskets will hold up.
