Your best 100% KOH source...

I'm gonna switch from NaOH to KOH for the electrolite for my current dry cell build. (Currently using NaOH in my water4gas setup)

I want the 100% KOH, not the 90%. The NaOH is an excellent catalyst, (way better than baking soda) but from the consensus here, it appears that KOH is even better, so I'm gonna give it a try. Where are you purchasing you 100% KOH? Is it flakes or crystals, and how do you measure concentration?

I paid the extra for the scientific grade 100% KOH and it made no difference at all that I could see. Stick with the 90% from biodieselbarn.

I found a 30 pound container of KOH at www.snowdriftfarm.com for around $90.00. Should last a lonh time.

That much would last me 7 years,still a great price to stock up in case KOH increases in price.

Thanks for the replies. I won't stick on the 100% purity Painless if there's no difference in production. I'm mainly trying to stay away from the rust blooms. My switch to the NaOH on the water4gas design worked very well in almost eliminating them, and everyone here swears KOH is better than NaOH, so I'm heading that way. I'm kinda eager to try it if its better than NaOH, because the NaOH is pretty good IMO.

The biodieselbarn is a link I haven't seen before.

Yes. I believe that means what you think it means. That it is not guaranteed 100%. I may try to contact the company selling it, to try to find an answer.
