    Plate spacing and electrolyte

I am using a 2 gallon container. My plates are 3 1/2 inch X7 1/2 inch. I am going to use the + N - N + that Stratous recommended and use lye as an electrolyte. Should I have my plates completely submerges in the solution if so I will have about 1 3/4 gallons in container. Should I have this much solution and also whatever amount of distilled water you recommend how much lye should I use?
What should my plate spacing be?

Thanks and have a Blessed day,
    Wade

1/8 inch is a good normal spacing.

With that much liquid, you could actually run two of those cells in series. In my double cell I use two more N plates. +NN-NN+. Either one will work just fine.
