Question How can you measure your E-lytes/water

How do you measure your E-lyte/water ratio? I hear alot about 28%. something like 2 lbs of KOH for every gallon of water. I know you can check the resistance of your mixture with two plates and a meter. but im not exactly what to look for. ive seen some people use the gravity testers for battery acid. Anyone know the easiest way to check it?
The way I see it, if you're gonna build a time machine into a car, why not do it with some style?

A good battery hydrometer will tell the specific Gravity

    KOH

    28% = 1.27

lately i here that 33% may be slightly better

    33% = 1.32
