HHO from steam

I remember reading about this a few years back, i think it was in "Water for Fuel" (i think that was the title, i'll have to dig it up, i have it somewhere).

I believe GE had a patent on a system where steam was run through a pipe that had little anodes and cathodes along the walls. The book said it was highly efficient, but didn't go into details.
Has anyone heard of this? Has anyone heard of a DIYer trying something like this?
I'll have to dig threw my parents basement and add more details (though i don't think it had much more info)

all very well and good maybe, but...

You would need, at a guess, to have to use high pressure steam to have enough density to have any chance of any current going accross the cell plates + due to nature of steam, will be very low electrolyte levels...

You would maybe ave to run some crazy high voltage system to arc between plates some?

sounds like you will also have a complex system for separating out the high pressure steam from the HHO gas

etc etc

to my mind this would be Highly impractical, if at all possible...??
