Home made gaskets for alost nothing!

So I experimented on making gaskets at home and had success. I got a big piece of rubber which I don't know what its to. I also made like a pan, 1/8" high by grinding the walls down, put metal at the ends so I made 8" squares
(8" gaskets) bolted a 7" x 7" metal plate in the middle of the 8" square and shredded up the rubber in my magic bullet (yes i really did that) and melted it in there, i just kept adding shavings until it was 1/8" high. I will experiment with weight and even by cutting up old tires. I will get one of those digital things that measure thickness to see if I can have success with this. Pics coming soon!

    Hi Diesel133,
Did you ever post any pics of this arrangement? Sounds pretty cool - actually manufacturing your own gaskets out of scrap rubber. would it not be easier to cut out of sheet rubber though?
