    graphite?

Just looking on youtube and see a bunch of cells using graphite electrodes...what is the pros and cons of graphite. It is not a metal so oxidation shouldn't be a factor, but what about exposure to the caustic properties of the electrolytes we use.

I once tried electrolysis with two carbon rod electrodes in NaOH and NaCl they slowly disintrigrated into a carbon powder but they wernt reacting with the NaOH.

Graphite electrodes will work very well but they will eventually disintigrate because of oxidation (C + O2 = CO2). Production will be much better than using stainless steel because graphite has such a large surface area.
