    John,
You can't use aluminum for electrolysis, period. If you wish to combine aluminum and KOH in a container made of steel, glass or HDPE you will find that the aluminum dissolves and makes pure hydrogen, not HHO.

I have used aluminum in the past and it did corode. I was thinking passivation and a different electrolyte would reduce corosion. I am also thinking about using stainless steel if I can avoid hxachrome.

If you wish to avoid hexachrome then keep your amperage at or below 1/4A per sq. in. and your voltage no higher than ~2.2V per cell and you should be fine. Or just use Nickel201..

    John,
This is just perception and not calculation, but I think that about 2/3 to 3/4 of us use KOH and the remainder use NaOH... Given any more thought to using Nickel200 or 201?

Thanks for sugesting KOH. I think thats what I am going to use. And yes my next upgrade will use Nickel if I can find a cheap source.
