    how to passivate aluminum

    I am building a hho generator and am wondering if anyone knows how to passivate aluminum plates

    You can't use aluminum for electrolysis, period. If you wish to combine aluminum and KOH in a container made of steel, glass or HDPE you will find that the aluminum dissolves and makes pure hydrogen, not HHO.

    I have used aluminum in the past and it did corode. I was thinking passivation and a different electrolyte would reduce corosion. I am also thinking about using stainless steel if I can avoid hxachrome.

    If you wish to avoid hexachrome then keep your amperage at or below 1/4A per sq. in. and your voltage no higher than ~2.2V per cell and you should be fine. Or just use Nickel201..
