    Question Using a solenoid instead of relay

    Has anyone done this instead of a relay before. I tried to wire one up from my friend Ron but did something wrong cause My ammeter does negative volts instead of positive . It is the Ford style with the 2 big positives and 2 small terminals. One small one has the letter I and the other is S. He said they are better than a relay cause it is waterproof.

    That relay will not work it is for a starter and is only rated to be on for approx 10-20 seconds. You need a continous duty solelnoidlike below:
