Question will 1/4" plexiglass work for a dry cell?

Can I use 1/4" plexiglass for a dry cell or does it need to be thicker stuff. What is the temp range I should be looking for? I went to a glass place here and they told me if the temp runs higher then 100 degrees I need a fire place plexiglass because it start to warp and will melt at about 130 degrees.

The guy was right, plexiglass will melt like a pro under your hood.

This a link from a post written by myoldyourgold. It's a chart with plastics and their resistance -> http://www.machinist-materials.com/c...r_plastics.htm

Your best pick would be HDPE material, at least 1/2" thick. It would be wise to use a stiffener plate on top of the end-plates to avoid any bowing of the bolts.

    Good luck ^ ^

Quarter inch anything is way too thin. Additionally, plexiglass will crack around any ports. You need to use HDPE, preferably 3/4" or more. This will ensure a good, even seal around all gasket surfaces and allow adequate thread depth for plumbing connections.

    thanks

I thought that he was right. That stuff gets a little pricy is there any place online that sell it it in cut sizes? I know I would use up a piece 12" X 24" just can't afford it right now. May be stuck with bath types until June.

1/2" cutting board from wallmart or bed bath and beyond that plastic seems to hold up well with high temp... super cheap also
