Home Depot, Canadian Tire, Rona and Walmart all dont seem to have any drain cleaners that have KOH in it, or at least they dont list it on the label as KOH, Potassium Hydroxide or Lye.
The brand im seeing everywhere is ZEP!, and im not seeing much else... does ZEP! heavy duty drain cleaner have KOH in it, does anyone know? or where else can i order just some pure KOH, like an online store or something [in canada preferably, as im in toronto, ontario] ? How did you all find it if you didnt get it from finding a drain cleaner that said its made with KOH? If I can't find it what would be equally as good, or is nothing equally as good... |

Sodium Hydroxide is just as good, it is also called Lye or caustic soda. If you can find a brand called Roebic, its 100% lye. KOH is also called potash and usually can be purchased at farmers feed stores

Potash (what farmers use) is potassium hydroxide (KOH). Potash is a fertilizer. |

I like this stuff. It's cheap, available and in liquid form.

My dad used to put potash on his tobacco. It comes in about 50 lb bags, lol.
Vets also use it to dissolve the button horns on calves, warts too. I did check at my local co-op feed store but I asked for potassium hydroxide. I don,t think they carry the potash any more due to people making meth. Also bombs, lol. You can get it on ebay. |
